Top Event Must Knows
Welcome Email
Each registered rider will receive the welcome to the event email and within it we list out 5 Event Must knows to smooth the learning curve, it will not answer all questions but it will reduce the initial uncertainty of what happens next!Â
However, just in case email servers fail us below we have set out what is in the email.
Â
- Every race event is PUBLIC on the Companion App – all riders who meet the minimum Smart Trainer entry requirement can join them, HRM is advised but as these can fail we do not DQ – if you never use one then we advise you to make the investment it will be worth it
- Each Race has 3 separate racing events with courses selected for three very different racing styles – Sprinting, Climbing and Finishing (iTT) – all require POWER of different sorts hence we have the POWER LEAGUE. , YOU choose what want to race for your Club then go deliver!
- When in race it’s important to know what counts and what does not, for SPRINT races ALL sprints are in play but no climbs, for the CLIMB race ALL CLIMBS are in play never the sprints and both races need to finish to get those finish line points. For the Finish (iTT) races then just get to the line ASAP – time is everything.
- Racing will use Zwift Racing Score (ZRS) to place riders in pens across 4 groups, each group represents the League A to D. Riders can race any group they are eligible for, however if you know you are higher then please select the right group, noone likes a sandbagger and Race Control will DQ you once found !
- For riders who are RACING a FREE Zwiftpower account is mandatory to enable your race performance to be tracked. Refer to rules section COMPETITION FORMAT on how you can create and link to your main Zwift account
If you still have questions then Email Race Control or post on Discord which is our day to day support hot line – we answer every message and email to support you all the way.
Competition Format
The Power League presents 3 PUBLIC race formats each round using ZRS to place riders over 4 racing pens.
- Finisher race – for riders who have a steady consistent power and like the iTT burn
- Sprinter race – for riders who love winding it up and bursting with unlimited power, then doing it again – no hills in sight
- Climber race – for riders who like the scenic route where the only way is up as they push through every meter to the top
Three races where YOU decide who YOU are and then go do what you do best!
Racing for the first series will be mixed to keep the Zwift admin simpler while the series builds but we expect to have separate events by gender in the future, we will split out results by gender.
All races convert to Points
Â
ZRS Pen Ranges
PEN A – 700+
PEN B – 700 to 500
PEN C – 500 to 300
PEN D – 300 to 0
Â
Series Leagues
One League per Pen by gender.
Best 2 scoring riders to count for each race format, more riders more chance, clubs will always earn points regardless of how many riders race.
Leagues will be run by format to determine who is the best at each racing format – the points earned from sprinting, climbing and finishing (for the finishers only) will define who is best.
Â
Registration
To be included in results riders must have
- an FRR account and linked their Zwiftpower account
- be OPTED IN to share their race data with ZwiftPower from their Zwift Profile Connections click HERE
- have created and connected a ZwiftPower account to their Zwift account – full instructions can be found HERE
Classification - Rider
Rider Classification
Races use the ZWIFT RACING SCORE to suggest which Pen a rider should join.
*** PLEASE NOTE ***
IF riders know their pen is too low then please move to a pen that reflects your power and normal racing level. RACE CONTROL will DQ riders for riding too low due to their ZRS being rebuilt due to inactivity.
Equipment
Equipment
- All riders must use a Smart Trainer as their Primary Power Source
- Power meters may be used as a primary power source where a Smart Trainer is not available
- Dual recording is not mandatory however experienced riders understand the benefit and equally the pitfalls
- Riders with Trainers/bikes without power meters (ZPower) are excluded
- SPIN bike based setups may compete but are NOT eligible for prizes – as these systems are less accurate and produce more watts for less effort – Prize verification will review at the end of the event
- Riders are expected to use a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM), abnormal performances without HRM will result in riders being excluded from event results
- Bike frames will be allocated for all riders with no upgrades (Zwift AERO & Zwift TT ), riders may choose their own wheelset
- All riders must use a Smart Trainer as their Primary Power Source
Points Scoring
SPRINTERS & CLIMBER Scoring
For segments, there are no points awarded for First across the line (FAL) – ALL points are awarded by Fastest Through Segment (FTS)
Points for EACH segment start at 100 and drop by 1 point – all riders will receive at least 1 point.
Riders are ranked by their racing pen and all riders from all race times NOT just the event a rider competes within.
Â
FINISHER Scoring
Riders are ranked by their racing pen and all riders from all race times NOT just the event a rider competes within. TIME to complete the course will define the order.
Points start at 100 and drop by 1 point – all riders will receive at least 1 point.
Race Etiquette
Race Respect
We all race for fun however we have all come across riders who ride on the dark side or don’t read the rules of the competition. We ask all riders to manage these situations with respect by following these simple rules when in events.
- When in race, riders should refrain from calling out riders either openly or privately as ‘resulting’ will highlight them to RACE CONTROL and PEN Penalties can be applied as per the rules
- Riders can submit rider challenges direct to RACE CONTROL via email or direct message on the FRR Discord server – Never do this openly and be assured that RACE CONTROL will review every request in the pursuit of fun and fair racing for everyone
Verification
Rider Verification
During events, riders naturally aim to perform at their best, and we fully appreciate the effort that goes into that. It is the responsibility of both RACE CONTROL and the organisers to monitor performance and help maintain fair racing across all classes, not just at the top level.
Â
Â
We take this responsibility seriously and are committed to creating a positive and enjoyable environment for everyone. While we understand that we’re all here to have fun, fairness remains important to the experience. To support this, we will do random checks on riders and respond to rider reports.
Â
Our goal is simply to ensure that all riders can compete on equal terms and enjoy the spirit of virtual racing together.
